Is a successful pre-season Kaka's best chance of redemption at Real Madrid?

The transfer window nearing its closure and no headway in Kaka’s transfer away from the Spanish giants, it increasingly looks like the Brazilian star is set to remain at the Bernabeu for at least another year. The 2012-13 season can be Kaka’s best in Madrid’s colours as he has had the advantage of a complete and a satisfying pre-season, something he had always missed out on before each season. Even though he had a full pre-season before the start of 2011-12 season, he’s start to the campaign was blighted by injuries. Is this Kaka’s best chance at redemption while at Real Madrid?
Jose Mourinho has always emphasized on the importance of the pre-season and considers it as a vital preparation towards building a ‘team.’ In preseason games, a coach is able to experiment with different formations and starting lineups without having to face consequences. For any player to have a seamless introduction into the squad, it is a must that he features regularly during the preseason as it provides the base on which the player can build upon and resist the niggling fitness concerns. Take the example of Nuri Sahin, who missed out on the 2011-12 preseason due to injuries and consequently had a benchwarmer’s role throughout the whole campaign.

With Kaka’s last minute omission from the Oveido squad list, it looked as if the “Only One” had put the Seleccao star on sale but later his inclusion in the squad list for the USA Tour meant that he wouldn’t be leaving right away. However, Kaka’s suitors AC Milan “coincidently” were also touring the United States and reports suggested that the discussions between the clubs resumed in the US but it failed to provide any breakthrough.
However, the Brazilian’s performances on the field may have persuaded Mourinho to delay the decision on Kaka’s future as he featured regularly throughout the preseason. The highlight for Kaka was the game against his former club, Milan. Even though the Brazilian couldn’t find the back of the net, he dished out three assists in only 28 minutes to help Madrid win an entertaining fixture with a 5-1 score line. With Kaka enjoying a quiet but an excellent preseason, he has the perfect base to build upon and hopefully this time, he won’t get injured.
Maybe Kaka’s wait for resurrection is over as he prepares for another season with the Galacticos. Kaka has always expressed his desire to succeed at Madrid and prefers to stay in Spain. Jose Mourinho has boasted about the squad’s unity and a lot of players like Iker Casillas and Cristiano Ronaldo have shown their support for the former Milan star and expressed their wish to see him at the club for the coming season. With Adriano Galliani admitting that signing Kaka would be nearly impossible and suitors discouraged by the Brazilian’s wage demands, it is very likely that the Brazilian will stay on for another year.
"Whether Kaka will leave the club or not is a decision he has to take himself but I think he will stay here. For me, he is one of the best players in the world, and all the best players have to be at Real Madrid."
- Cristiano Ronaldo
Jose Mourinho has admitted that Kaka will be allowed to leave if he wishes and he would very much liked if the player wished to continue at the Bernabeu. He also warned other clubs that “nobody gets a diamond for free, if they want a diamond, they’ll have to pay for it;” a hint that interested clubs might be priced out of a move.
So does Kaka still have a future at Madrid? Can the 'diamond' shine at the Bernebeu this season?
